First Responder’s Turkey-Thon To Feed Hundreds This Thanksgiving

On Monday, New Castle County first responders hosted the 23rd annual “Fill-a-Bag” program, a cherished initiative aimed at supporting families in need during the Thanksgiving season. This year, the program is set to benefit approximately 300 families, ensuring they can enjoy a holiday meal.

The event, held in collaboration with the Emmanuel Dining Room, exemplifies the community’s commitment to helping its residents during the holidays. The “Fill-a-Bag” program builds on the success of the New Castle County Department of Public Safety’s Turkey-thon, a day-long event held earlier at the ShopRite on Concord Pike in Wilmington. Turkey-thon rallied the community to donate turkeys and traditional Thanksgiving meal items.

By bringing together local organizations, donors, and volunteers, the program reflects the spirit of giving and gratitude that defines the season.
