Just after 9:10 a.m. Thursday morning, emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of East Lea Boulevard and Colony Boulevard in Wilmington following reports of a motor vehicle accident involving entrapment.
Rescue crews from the Brandywine and Claymont Fire Companies arrived on the scene alongside New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police. Initial reports from the scene indicated that the crash involved significant damage to the vehicles and the possibility of high-speed impact.
Emergency medical teams worked to extricate the occupants from the wreckage. One passenger was stabilized at the scene and transported to Christiana Hospital, where they were admitted in serious condition.
The driver of the vehicle sustained critical injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance.
A third individual involved in the crash was transported to Wilmington Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
