Pedestrian Struck And Killed Saturday In New Castle

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last night in New Castle that left one man dead.

Officials said on December 7, 2024, at approximately 11:16 p.m., a Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound in the right lane on North Dupont Parkway north of Christiana Road. Troopers say that a pedestrian, wearing dark clothing, entered the southbound lane and into the Tacoma’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the Tacoma struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old man from New Castle was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the Tacoma, a 38-year-old man from Smyrna was not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
