William Hare, a 74-year-old Dover City Council member representing the 2nd District, was arrested on Tuesday, during a targeted operation conducted by the Dover Police Department. The operation, aimed at addressing local prostitution issues, took place at an undisclosed hotel in the Dover area. Hare was charged with patronizing a prostitute and released on a criminal summons.
This arrest comes as part of a broader initiative by the Dover Police Department and the Delaware Department of Justice to tackle quality-of-life concerns within the city, with a focus on deterring patronage and enforcing legal consequences for offenders. The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and well-being across the community police said.
Along with Hare, five other individuals were arrested and charged during the operation. Following his arrest, reports indicate that Hare has withdrawn from the upcoming election.
