On Monday evening emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision with entrapment and fire at the Christiana Fashion Center. The incident, which occurred around 7:57 p.m. on February 17, 2025, involved multiple vehicles with one vehicle engulfed in flames and multiple individuals trapped.
New Castle County Paramedics, along with the Christiana Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company of Newport, and Wilmington Manor Fire Company, arrived to find one vehicle on fire and three people trapped inside. Multiple other individuals were also injured in the crash.
Emergency crews worked to extricate the victims and provide medical care. An approximately 80-year-old woman, suffering from lower extremity injuries, was treated at the scene before being transported in serious condition to Christiana Hospital in Newark. A 78-year-old man, complaining of chest pain and possible internal injuries, was also transported to the hospital in stable condition. A 37-year-old woman, who sustained injuries to her lower extremities, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
In addition to the three trapped individuals, five other patients were transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulances from Christiana, Minquas, and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies.
The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
