One Injured Late Sunday In Bear House Fire

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a residential fire that occurred late Sunday night and left one person injured.

Assistant Public Information Officer Leslie Antonelli-Hobbs stated that New Castle County Paramedics, the Christiana Fire Company, and surrounding mutual aid fire companies were dispatched at approximately 10:50 p.m. to the unit block of Dover Court in Bear. Initial callers reported that smoke and fire was coming from the second floor.

Upon arrival, first responders reported fire showing from the second floor and reported and that they had an injured at the scene.

A 40-year-old male was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and minor facial burns before being transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. He was listed in serious but stable condition.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and remained on scene for an extended period to conduct overhaul operations and ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished. No additional injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel.

Responding agencies included New Castle County Paramedics, Christiana Fire Company, and Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Company, along with crews from the Delaware City Fire Company.
