After 33 Years This Greenville Restaurant Will Close Saturday

Greenville, DE – After more than three decades as a beloved neighborhood staple, Cromwell’s American Tavern & Taqueria will be closing its doors for good Saturday. The announcement, made by owner Pat Nilon, has sparked an outpouring of support from longtime patrons who have shared memories on the restaurant’s social media.

“For over 33 years, we’ve strived to be your favorite neighborhood place,” the restaurant shared in a farewell message on social media. “Beginning next week, we will become part of your neighborhood memories, as we will be closing our doors after Saturday night service.”

Located along Kennett Pike, across from Janssen’s Market, Cromwell’s has been a go-to destination for locals since 1991, offering a mix of American comfort food with a touch of Tex-Mex flair. Over the years, it became known for its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, drawing in regulars for everything from casual lunches to special celebrations.

The news of Cromwell’s closure was met with best wishes from customers, with many taking to social media to express their sadness and gratitude. Some have described it as their “absolute favorite restaurant,” while others reflected on decades of memories.

With just two days left before the final service, Nilon invited customers to visit one last time to say goodbye and use any remaining gift cards. The restaurant will maintain its normal hours leading up to the closure, with service running through Saturday evening.

“We thank you for over three decades of support and friendship, shared meals, and clinked glasses,” Nilon wrote in his message to customers on his website.
