St. Patrick’s Day Shooting Leaves One Dead

Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday morning in the city. Officers responded to the unit block of West 27th Street at approximately 9:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting in the area.

Emergency medical personnel, including Elsmere Fire Company A16 and New Castle County Paramedics, were also dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders located a 22-year-old male who had sustained gunshot wounds. Immediate medical aid was provided before the victim was transported to a nearby trauma center for further treatment.

Despite the efforts of emergency and hospital staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.

Wilmington Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detectives are working to determine the events leading up to the shooting.
