Milford Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Thursday evening along North DuPont Boulevard. The incident resulted in the death of a 78-year-old Felton woman.
Public Information Officer Sergeant Timothy Maloney stated the incident took place on March 27, 2025, at approximately 8:12 p.m. According to police, a black Honda Accord was traveling northbound on North DuPont Boulevard, near the area of North Street Extended, when a pedestrian entered the right travel lane and was stuck by the vehicle.
The driver of the Honda Accord, identified as a 30-year-old male, remained on scene following the collision and contacted emergency services. Maloney said that the driver was not injured in the crash. Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on the pedestrian, however, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The pedestrian was later identified as Martha Burnham of Felton. Investigators closed the northbound lanes of North DuPont Boulevard for approximately three and a half hours to conduct their preliminary investigation.
At this time, no charges have been filed, and the cause of the pedestrian’s entry into the travel lane has not been determined. Maloney said the investigation is ongoing and that the Milford Police Department’s Traffic Division continues to gather evidence.
