A New Castle man has been sentenced to two decades in prison after being convicted of stalking, illegally possessing a firearm, and violating the terms of his probation.
Donald Beckwith, 42, was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a Superior Court judge on June 3, 2026. The sentence followed a conviction that same day for stalking and an earlier conviction this year for possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was also found guilty of violating probation related to a 2018 conviction for sexual solicitation of a child.
According to prosecutors, the case began in April 2025 when Beckwith’s probation officer observed him using an internet-capable electronic device, which was prohibited under the conditions of his supervision. An administrative search of his apartment led to the discovery of letters he had written while incarcerated years earlier. Authorities said the letters contained graphic descriptions outlining intentions to commit sexual violence against minors, acts of violence against government institutions, and plans to stalk, kidnap, and kill an individual connected to his previous criminal case.
Investigators, working with the New Castle County Police Department, determined Beckwith had been in the immediate vicinity of the intended victim’s residence approximately 50 times over the course of a year. The findings led to his arrest in June 2025.
