Trooper Reportedly Struck During Police Pursuit

A Delaware State Police trooper reportedly suffered minor injuries during a police pursuit that ended in a crash late Wednesday night in Lewes.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:24 p.m. at the intersection of Coastal Highway (Route 1) and Nassau Road.

The crash was reportedly connected to a high-speed police pursuit that ended when the suspect vehicle struck a Delaware State Police patrol vehicle. Following the collision, the suspect or suspects reportedly fled on foot, prompting a search of the surrounding area by law enforcement.

First State Update has learned the trooper was reportedly inside her patrol vehicle when it was struck. She reportedly suffered minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene but was not transported to a hospital.

Northbound Route 1 at Nassau Road remained closed for an extended period as troopers investigated the crash and searched for the suspect or suspects.

Delaware State Police have not released official details regarding the pursuit, the crash, or the search.
