Officials Update Crash That Seriously Injured Three Wednesday

New Castle County emergency responders treated three people, including two who were critically injured, following a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on DuPont Parkway (U.S. 13) at Boyds Corner Road.

Just after 9:00 am New Castle County Paramedics along with several fire companies responded after initial reports indicated multiple patients and possible entrapment. Crews arrived to find a crash involving a crossover vehicle and two SUVs with three injured occupants. After assessing the scene, responders determined that none of the patients required extrication.

A 79-year-old woman suffered extremity and internal injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital by New Castle County Paramedics aboard an Odessa Fire Company ambulance in critical condition. A 79-year-old man sustained extremity and chest injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition by New Castle County Paramedics and a State of Delaware EMS physician aboard a Port Penn Fire Company ambulance. A 51-year-old woman suffered extremity and abdominal injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital by New Castle County Paramedics aboard a Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown ambulance in serious condition.

Responding agencies included New Castle County EMS (Paramedics), Odessa Fire Company, Port Penn Fire Company, the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, and the Delaware State Police.

The Delaware State Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
