A 28-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after New Castle County Police said he allegedly attempted to rob a person at gunpoint inside a residence Sunday afternoon.
According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded at approximately 2:15 p.m. on July 12, 2026, to the 100 block of Pleasantville Court for a report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred.
Investigators said the victim was inside a residence with several other individuals when Troy Waller arrived. Police allege an argument broke out between Waller and the victim over a prior matter. During the confrontation, Waller allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened to cause harm unless the victim turned over property. The victim refused the demand and left the residence.
Officers responding to the scene quickly located Waller and took him into custody. During the investigation, detectives developed information indicating the firearm used in the incident had been concealed inside the residence. After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the home and recovered a loaded firearm believed to have been used during the alleged offense.
Waller was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with attempted first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, aggravated menacing, and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $96,000 cash bail.
