A 36-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash near Delmar have been identified by Delaware State Police as Hilary Brooks and Mia Brooks, both of Delmar.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on August 29 on Whitesville Road, west of Robin Hood Road. Police said a Kawasaki Ninja was traveling eastbound behind a Dodge Dakota and a Ford F-650 rollback truck, which were also traveling east.
According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle passed the Dakota in a no-passing zone and struck the driver’s side of the rollback truck as the truck was making a left turn into a private driveway officials said. Hilary Brooks, who was operating the motorcycle, and Mia Brooks, who was riding as a passenger, were both ejected.
Hilary Brooks was transported to an area hospital, where she later died. Mia Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the rollback truck, a 19-year-old Laurel man, was not injured.
Whitesville Road was closed for approximately four hours while investigators examined the scene and the roadway was cleared.
Delaware State Police continue to investigate the crash.
