Delaware State Police have arrested a Georgetown man following an investigation into the theft of HVAC units from two properties in Sussex County.
Police said troopers responded to a newly constructed home in the 19000 block of West Piney Grove Road in Georgetown at approximately 8:55 a.m. on September 15, 2026, after an HVAC unit was reported stolen from the property. Later that day, troopers responded to the Spirit of Excellence Church at 31195 Dupont Boulevard in Dagsboro for a separate report of a stolen HVAC unit.
Detectives identified 46-year-old William Pusey of Georgetown as the suspect, according to police. Investigators said Pusey allegedly took the HVAC units to a local scrap yard, where he signed documents and received payment for them.
Pusey was arrested on September 18 and taken to Delaware State Police Troop 4. He was charged with two felony counts of theft over $1,500, felony selling stolen property over $1,500 or two or more prior convictions, selling stolen property under $1,500, criminal mischief involving $1,000 to less than $5,000 in property damage, two counts of falsifying business records and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass.
Police said Pusey was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on $5,002 secured bond.
