A 30-year-old man has been indicted on three counts of second-degree murder in connection with a March crash in Wilmington that left three people dead.
On October 12, 2026, Senior Corporal Keith Johnson presented the case against Nicholas Resto to a New Castle County grand jury, which returned an indictment charging him with three counts of second-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and driving a vehicle under the influence, in addition to traffic-related charges.

The charges stem from a March 21 collision at approximately 4:18 a.m. near 9th and Walnut Streets in Wilmington. Officers responding to the crash found three deceased occupants inside a vehicle.
The victims were identified as 48-year-old Curtis Jackson, 35-year-old Caroline Shockley, and 41-year-old Brandon Hill.
Police located Resto, who was identified as the driver of the striking vehicle. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department’s Special Operations Division Traffic Unit determined that Resto was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding at the time of the collision.
Resto was initially charged with three counts of manslaughter and driving under the influence. He was arraigned, and bail was set at $105,200 cash only.
Following the October 12 grand jury indictment, Resto remains incarcerated at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
