CLAYMONT, Del. — A 17-year-old Claymont boy is facing multiple felony charges after police say he pointed a stolen handgun equipped with a green laser at several people during an altercation at an apartment complex Friday morning.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded to the 900 block of Cedartree Lane in the Woodacre Apartments community at approximately 7:55 a.m. on October 23, 2026, following a report of a person with a gun.

Investigators learned that several individuals had been involved in a verbal altercation in the courtyard of the apartment complex. During the confrontation, the teenager allegedly displayed a handgun equipped with a green laser and pointed it at multiple people.

Police also learned that a green laser dot had reportedly been seen inside the apartment complex before the confrontation, possibly originating from one of the apartments.

During the investigation, officers identified the teenager’s apartment and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun equipped with a laser attachment. Police determined that the firearm had been reported stolen in July 2026 and linked the teenager to the original theft.

The juvenile was taken to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with three felony counts of aggravated menacing, theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a person under 21, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to a juvenile detention center after failing to post $45,500 secured bail.
