Newark Police have confirmed that a seventh person was injured in the Halloween night shooting on East Main Street, bringing the total number of victims to seven.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, police said investigators identified an additional victim, a 17-year-old male who suffered a graze wound to his lower body during the October 31 shooting.

According to police, the teenager initially left the scene without reporting his injury. Investigators located him on Monday, November 2, at which time he disclosed that he had been wounded. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and subsequently released.

The shooting occurred Saturday at approximately 11:13 p.m. on the south sidewalk of East Main Street, directly across from Choate Street, as large crowds gathered in downtown Newark for Halloween celebrations.

Of the six previously identified victims, five were males between the ages of 15 and 20, while the sixth was a 21-year-old female.

A 19-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his back, while a 20-year-old male, identified by police as a University of Delaware student, suffered a gunshot wound that caused a collapsed lung. Both were reported to be hospitalized in serious condition.

Two 15-year-old boys were also wounded. One suffered a gunshot wound to his back and was reported in critical condition, while the other sustained a gunshot wound to his foot and was reported in serious condition.

A 16-year-old male from Wilmington suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was reported hospitalized in serious condition. During the investigation, police discovered that the teenager was allegedly carrying a loaded firearm. He was subsequently charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 21, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Breach of Release.

The teenager was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3, where bail was set at $60,100 cash. Police have not indicated that he was responsible for shooting any of the victims.

The remaining previously identified victim, a 21-year-old female, suffered a graze wound to her leg and was treated and released.

Following the shooting, Main Street was closed for approximately five hours between South Chapel Street and Haines Street while investigators processed the scene.

The Newark Police Department continues investigating the shooting. Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the gunfire or identified the person or persons responsible.

The latest update brings the confirmed number of shooting victims to seven, including three juveniles ages 15 and 16 and the newly identified 17-year-old.
