Boy Shot In Head Sent To AI DuPont, Shooter Possibly A 14-Year-Old

Wilmington – On Wednesday May 10, 2017, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the 100 block of W. 20th Street in reference to a shooting investigation. Arriving officers located a 17-year-old male on the porch of a residence in the block suffering from a gunshot, graze wound to the top of his head.

The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in good condition. The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was walking in the 100 block of Elliot’s Way when he was approached by several, unknown black male juveniles, approximately 14-17 years of age who were on bicycles.

One of the males began firing a weapon at the victim, striking him in the head, according to police.  The victim was able to run to the 100 block of W. 20th Street where police were notified. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information relative to this incident is asked to call Detective Michael Wilkerson at 302-576-3620.
