Police Arrest Millsboro Man for 6th Offense DUI

Dagsboro – Police say that at approximately 9:07 p.m. Wednesday July 27, 2016 as a trooper parked stationary on East Diamond Street facing Power Plant Road, observed a 2012 GMC Sierra traveling northbound on Power Plant Road without a headlight. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the pick-up truck on Iron Branch Road north of Bunting Road.  Police say that Contact was then made with the operator, Gary L. Levis, 52 of Millsboro, and an odor of marijuana and alcohol was detected.  A DUI investigation ensued and Levis was taken into custody and transported back to Troop 4.  Prior to leaving the scene, an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted and troopers located 16 Oxycodone pills and 16.74 grams of marijuana, Police said.  During the arrest police say that a computer check revealed the man had five previous DUI convictions (05/15/94, 11/18/94, 03/27/95, 03/31/95, and 04/05/04); this arrest would make #6.

Gary Levis was charged with 6th Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Marijuana, and Driving without Two Headlights. He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,650.00 secured bond.c
