Standoff Ends In Apparent Murder Suicide

New Castle – On Sunday July 17 at approximately 6:15 p.m., New Castle County Police responded Georgetown Manor Apartments in reference to a check on the welfare. Upon arrival, officers heard a gunshot from the apartment they were dispatched to and evacuated the building.

Officers made contact with the suspected shooter via telephone. The New Castle County Police Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to the scene and continued speaking with the male for several hours. While speaking with the male, CNT officers heard what sounded like a gunshot over the phone. Officers entered the apartment and located a deceased male and female within both suffering apparent gunshot wounds.

Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Police are not actively searching for a suspect. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
