Unidentified Body Found Floating In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, MD –  Ocean City police are currently investigating the death of an unidentified male after lifeguards located a body in the ocean off 127th Street on Tuesday.

Police said that at approximately 4:20 pm Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguards located a deceased male in the ocean near 127th Street after a citizen reported seeing an object floating offshore. The body showed signs of being in the water for an extended period of time.

Detectives of the Ocean City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and an active investigation is underway to determine the identity of the male and the circumstances surrounding his death, according to police. The body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be conducted in the coming days. There are currently no known missing persons reported in the area, police said.

Anyone that may have been in the area in the last 36 to 48 hours and believes they have information related to the case is asked to contact the Ocean City Police Department at 410-723-6610. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
