Body Found Floating In The Christina River

NewportDelaware State Police are currently investigating a suspicious death after the body of a male subject was found floating in the Christina River in Newport this morning.

The investigation began this morning, Saturday, August 13, 2016, at approximately 7:57 a.m. after a 9-1-1 call was placed advising that the body of a male subject had been located floating in the Christina River near the Newport boat ramp located on Copper Drive, Newport.

The body was recovered and removed from the water by responding emergency personnel and declared dead at the scene. The body was then turned over to the Division of Forensic Sciences which will attempt to determine the identity of the male victim and the cause of death.

Police said that the investigation is in its early stages and that further information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
