The fundraiser will culminate on Friday with a Battle of the Bars competition. Several participating bars have been raising money ahead of Friday’s Battle of the Bars hoping to be named the Pre-Battle Champion.

Customers have been urged to support their local bar by donating to their page and helping them be the next battle of the bars winner. Full list of competitors

A check of the online fundraiser for the Friends of Newark Police K-9 Fund, shows Taverna Rustic Italian holds a slight lead ($2,050) over  Caffé Gelato’s ($1,706).  In in an apparent attempt to wrestle the lead away from Taverna, Caffé Gelato said they are matching donations dollar-for-dollar in gift cards up to $25.

The Battle of the Bars is set for Friday August 19th from 5-8pm at the Newark Courtyard Marriott. It is one of many fundraisers throughout the year for the Friends of Newark Police K-9 Fund. 8 local bars will be battling again for the PACO Cup. The winner is chosen by the most amount of money raised from donations, drink sales and tips the night of the event.
