Football Player Arrested After Knocking Out Referee

Ventura, California – A junior college football player was arrested on Saturday for punching a referee during a game between Mt. SAC and Ventura College in Ventura, California.

The incident occurred when Mt. SAC  offensive lineman Bernard Schirmer, who at the time was involved in a verbal altercation with an opposing player, punched the game referee. The referee was pushing Schirmer back to the huddle in an attempt to separate the players.

Schirmer was arrested after police reviewed the video and spoke to witness . He was booked in to the county jail on suspension of battery.
