Swimming Pool Hit By Gunfire

New Castle Delaware State Police said that at around 1:30 a.m., on Monday, September 5, 2016, troopers responded to a residence located in the unit block of Tyne Drive, Coventry Development, New Castle, for the report of shots being fired at the home.

When troopers arrived they were advised by the resident that he heard several shots being fired outside of his home, while he was sleeping. When the homeowner awoke later in the morning he discovered that water was draining from a bullet hole in the water pump and wall to his above ground pool, according to police. The homeowner also discovered a bullet hole in a widow of the home. A total of three people were in the home at the time of the shots being fired, however, there were no injuries, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
