Newark Man Arrested In Road Rage Incident, Guns, Drugs Found

On September 28, 2016 at approximately 6:09 p.m., Middletown Police were called to the area of Middletown Warwick Road and Merrimac Ave in reference to a road rage incident, according to Middletown Police Spokesman Captain Michael J. Iglio.

Iglio said that the victim reported that a black male driver, operating a 2009 Gray Nissan Altima, later identified as Cornelius B. Jones Jr., pointed a black handgun at him while the two vehicles passed.

Police said that they located the Altima, driven by Jones, in Middletown and a search warrant was conducted on the vehicle. During the execution of the search warrant, officers located a loaded black semi automatic handgun in the driver side door panel and a rifle in the trunk, said  Iglio. 

Officers also located 52 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, a digital scale and packaging material, according to Iglio. Iglio went on to say that Jones was taken into custody a short period later and found to be in possession of $1,046 United States Currency, suspected drug proceeds. 

Jones was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony,  aggravated menacing, possession with the intent deliver a controlled substance with an aggravating factor, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jones was arraigned via JP Court #11 and he received $86,010 secured bail. He was later transported to JTVCC in lieu of the required bail.
