Police K-9 Team Receives Award

cpl-robert-sharp2Dover – Newark Police Corporal Robert Sharpe and K-9 “Kody,” were presented with the Hero Animal of the Year Award by the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association on Tuesday.

Corporal Sharpe and K-9 “Kody” were nominated by a veterinarian for their successful tracks of two missing people in 2016.  One of the missing individuals was a suicidal female and the other was an autistic 11 year-old boy.

cpl-robert-sharpThe K-9 Team received their award at a luncheon in Dover on Tuesday, according to a post on the Newark Police Facebook page

The annual ceremony recognizes unique and inspiring animals that are an important part of the Delaware community.
