Cell Phone Store Robbed In New Castle

New Castle – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a New Castle area cellular phone store that occurred yesterday evening, according to State Police Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale.

Hale said that at approximately 6:58 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, a male suspect entered the Metro PCS store located at 287 Christiana Road, New Castle. The suspect then approached the sales counter where he confronted a male employee of the store and ordered him to the floor, said Hale.

The suspect, who implied that he was armed but did not display a weapon, then proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before fleeing in an unknown direction, according to Hale. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 5’09”-6’01” tall, weighed approximately 190 lbs., and was last seen wearing all dark clothing, a black hat, and had a scarf covering part of his face.
