Felton – The Delaware State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash into an elementary school that occurred earlier this evening, Delaware State Police Public Information Officer, Master 
Corporal Gary Fournier.
Fournier said that the preliminary investigation reveals the incident occurred around 6:24 p.m. Wednesday January 18, 2017 as a 56-year-old Dover male was operating a 1999 Ford Explorer eastbound on Killens Pond Road.
For undetermined reason, the Explorer traveled off the north side of the road and traveled in a northeasterly direction across the grass and into the front office area of Lake Forest Central Elementary School, located at 5424 Killens Pond Road, where it came to a stop, said Fournier.
The 56-year-old male, who was properly restrained, was transported by EMS to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The school was unoccupied by staff at the time of the incident.
