Officer Involved Shooting In Wilmington, Man Dies

Wilmington – Shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday night, January 23, 2017 an officer from the Wilmington Police Department was involved in a fatal shooting, said police. Officers were originally dispatched to a home in the the 1700 block of W. 13th Street for a report of a distraught and potentially armed man, according to a statement from the Wilmington Police Department.

Arriving officers encountered the man, who was armed with a handgun, and fatally shot him, police said. The department did not release further details of regarding the incident.

Wilmington Police said that an investigation is being conducted by their office and the Delaware Department of Justice.
