Man Handcuffed After Driving Into Retention Pond In Newark

Newark – Delaware State Police are investigating how a man drove his Chevrolet Suburban in to a retention pond at the I-95 NB on-ramp and 896 in Newark.

truck in pond2Several witnesses stopped to help the man who was out of the vehicle.  The man who was question by State Police Troopers was later handcuffed and taken from the scene.

Delaware State Police Spokesman, Jeffery Hale said that the man was not injured. First State Update witnessed the man being questioned by Trooper before being placed in handcuffs.

Traffic was slow for a while as a tow truck and DelDOT crews attempted to remove the vehicle from the water.

Hale said that the incident occurred at approximately 11:46 a.m. this morning and that it was a single vehicle crash.
