Man Shot In The Head In Wilmington, Escapes Serious Injury

Wilmington – On February 16, 2017 at approximately 1:27 a.m., Wilmington Police Officers responded to the area of the 400 block of Delamore Place in reference to a Shot Spotter alert of gunfire, according to Wilmington Police.

Officials said that arriving officers located a shooting scene, however no victim. Several minutes later 911 was notified by St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room staff that a 38-year-old male had walked into the hospital and was suffering from an apparent graze wound to his forehead.

The victim is in good condition.The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in the 400 block of Delamore Place when he heard gunshots and realized that he had been struck and responded to the hospital.
