Bomb Threat At Everett Meredith Middle School In Middletown

Middletown- Delaware State Police are investigating a threat that was called into Everett Meredith Middle School this morning, Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey. R. Hale.

Hales said that the incident occurred around 7:39 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017, when a phone call was received at the main office of Everett Meredith Middle School located at 505 S. Broad Street. The male caller stated that there was a bomb in the school and that it would blow if it was not located.

Students and staff were evacuated from the school as troopers and K-9 units immediately responded and conducted a search. Nothing of a suspicious nature was located and students were allowed to return to the school at approximately 9:40 a.m. to resume normal activities.

This incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police at this time. If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, they are asked to contact Troop 2 Youth Aid Division at 302-834-2620. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
