Fake Name Lands Felton Man In Jail

Harrington – On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 the Harrington Police Department arrested Dathan Earle 18, of the 100 Block of Copperfield Lane in Felton after Earle gave officers a fake name on a traffic stop, according to Harrington Police Captain Earl K. Brode.

Brode said that while on patrol on South DuPont Highway in the area of Gordon Street, police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Police contacted the driver, and determined that the driver had a suspended license.

Police then contacted Earle, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Earle could not provide any identification and provided the officer with a fake name and date of birth, according to Brode.  After conducting a computer check police determined Earle’s real identity and took him into custody.

Police also found that Earle had active capias out of Kent County Family Court. He was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. He was issued a criminal summons for Criminal Impersonation, arraigned via video phone for his capias and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $1,100 secured bond.

The driver of the vehicle was issued traffic summons and released, said Brode.
