Man Charged With October Armed Robbery

Milford – On October 20, 2016 at approximately 3:00 am officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Valley Run Apartment complex to a report of an armed robbery, according to Milford Police Spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten.

Masten said that upon arrival officers learned the victim was approached by two males, who displayed handguns. The two men demanded money and anything else of value the victim possessed. The victim turned over a cell phone to the pair and they fled. Further investigation, that included the evaluation of latent finger prints, led to a warrant being obtained for the one male who was identified, said Masten.

A warrant for Amir D. Collins, 19 of Lincoln, has been on file and on March 8, 2017.  Collins was apprehended by Milton Police and turned over to Milford Police. He has been charged with Robbery First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, and Conspiracy Second Degree.

Collins was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $52,000.00 cash only. Mr. Collins has been committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution and is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing on 03.17.2017 at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
