Man Jumps In A Lake To Escape Police, Another Resist Arrest

Milford – On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 Milford Police Patrol Units responded to the area of Sunset Lane and Kings HWY to check the welfare of two men, that witnesses reported to be possibly intoxicated, and walking on the roadway. A patrol unit arrived in the area and did identify two males matching the description that witnesses provided. They both were walking Eastbound on Kings Highway, according to Milford Police Spokesman Mikhail Stanton.

Stanton said that the officer initiated a pedestrian stop, as the Officer exited his vehicle one of the suspects began to run northbound into a field towards the wood line which leads to Silver Lake. The other subject did stop and was identified as Jordan Skiba, an 18-year-old that resides in Milford. Further Investigation revealed that Skiba was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody, said Stanton.

Milford Police Patrol Officers and a Milford Police K-9 unit attempted to locate the other suspect while searching the woods. After a period of time Officers located the subject in Silver Lake. Officers gave the suspect orders to come out of the water which were ignored. Officer noticed that the suspect was holding on barely and struggling to keep his head up out of the water. Carlisle Fire Company was notified at that time for a possibly water rescue, and responded to the scene. However, Officers were able to get to the suspect, and pull him out of the water before a water vessel could be utilized to attempt a rescue. The suspect was treated on scene by medical personnel from The Carlisle Fire Company once he was out of the water. He was identified as Kevin Morales-Perez, 20, of Georgetown, and was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

Skiba was transported to Milford Police Department where he became disorderly with patrol officers and began to resist arrest, said Stanton. Skiba was charged with Resisting Arrest, Drunk on a Highway, and Underage Possession/Consumption of Alcohol. Due to his alleged alcohol Intoxication, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution until he was sober enough for arraignment. Arraignment information was unavailable at the time of this release.

Morales-Perez was released from the hospital and taken into custody. He was transported to the Milford Police Department where it was determined that he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with Resisting Arrest, Drunk on a Highway, Underage Possession/ Consumption of Alcohol, and Criminal Mischief Under $1000.00. Due to his alcohol intoxication, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution until he was sober enough for arraignment. Arraignment information was unavailable at the time of this release.
