Newark ACME Hit By Shoplifting Trio

Newark – Newark Police Department is investigating a shoplifting incident that occurred on March 2, 2017 at 2:45 p.m. at ACME, 100 College Square, according to NPD Spokesman Lieutenant Fred Nelson.

Nelson said that an employee reported that two suspects left the store with a cart full of groceries without paying for them. The employee stated he followed the suspects outside and observed them running to a waiting vehicle occupied by a third suspect who was driving.

The suspects began to throw the contents of the cart into the vehicle and then fled in the vehicle onto southbound Library Avenue, according to Nelson. The remainder of the items left behind in the cart by the suspects were found to have a value of $235.56.

The suspects were described as follows:
Suspect 1 – Black female, thin build, dreadlocks below her shoulders, wearing blue jeans, sneakers, and a black jacket
Suspect 2 – Black female, average build, wearing a baseball hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, a vest, and jeans
Suspect 3 – Black male, average build, full beard, wearing a gray jacket, knit hat, and blue jeans
Suspect vehicle – Black Chrysler mini-van
