Two Gunmen Flea After Clerk Runs Away

Newport – Delaware State Police are currently investigating the attempted armed robbery of a Newport area clothing store that occurred Wednesday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale.

disenosHale said that the investigation has determined that the incident happened on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at approximately 7:25 p.m., as two male suspects entered the Disenos Store located at 503 S. Maryland Avenue.

Both suspects, who were each armed with an unknown make and model handgun, approached the sales counter and confronted a female clerk, according tom Hale. The clerk, upon seeing the armed suspects, ran to the rear of the business. Both suspects then exited the store without obtaining any property. They then fled the area in an unknown type of vehicle.

One of the suspects was described as a black male. He was 25 years of age, 5’10” tall, and was last seen wearing a camouflaged jacket and a ski mask.

The second suspect was described as a black male. He was 5’08”-5’11” tall and weighed 150-170 lbs.
