New Castle County Police Promote Captain To Lt. Colonel

Wilmington – Earlier today, Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr. promoted Captain Quinton L. Watson, a 29-year veteran, to the rank of Lt. Colonel, according to police spokeswoman Tracy Duffy.

Duffy said Lt. Colonel Quinton L. Watson began his career with the New Castle County Division of Police on October 12, 1987. He was assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division as an officer until his transfer to the Criminal Investigation Unit in 1992.

During the next eight (8) years, Lt. Col. Watson was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit as a detective in the Drug Control Squad and the Crimes against Persons Squad. He remained in the unit after his promotion to Sergeant in 1998 where he supervised the Crimes against Persons Squad. Lt. Col. Watson was later promoted to Lieutenant in 2000 where he commanded the Criminal Investigation Unit.

He was later assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division where he commanded Patrol Squad C until his promotion to Captain in 2003.

Lt. Col. Watson has commanded the Crime Analysis Unit, Professional Development Unit, Criminal Investigation Unit, Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Operations Section and the Professional Standards Unit.

A promotional ceremony will be held at a later date, added Duffy.
