Second Wilmington Shooting Today Leaves Man In Hospital

Wilmington – On April 02, 2017 at approximately 12:29 pm, Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to a residence located in the 400 block of Eastlawn Avenue in reference to a shooting investigation, according to police.

Officials said that arriving officer’s located a 30-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his back and both of his legs. The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting occurred in the 400 block of Eastlawn Avenue when the victim was approached by several, unknown black males who began to shoot at the victim striking him in the described areas.

The investigation remains active and ongoing at this hour. Anyone who has information in reference to this investigation is asked to call Detective Rhonda Holmes at 302-576-3623.

This incident is the 52nd shooting that has taken place in Wilmington since the beginning of the year.
