Driver Narrowly Escapes Death On I-495 After Leaving The The Roadway

Claymont – At approximately 4:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Monday May 15, 2017, a call came into 911 dispatch for a high speed impact crash. The caller told dispatchers that a vehicle had left the roadway and was in the woods off of Interstate 495 NB at Myrtle Avenue in Claymont.

It appears that as  the car left the roadway it struck a light pole, narrowly missing a guard rail before ending up in the treeline, near the Route 13 off ramp.

Rescue crews responded to the scene but quickly left as they were not needed. Shortly after the crash the driver was removing items from the badly damaged car and placing them into another car.

State Police did not reported any injures for this crash.
