Gunshots Ring Out Early This Morning, One In Hospital

Wilmington – On May 08, 2017 at approximately 12:53 a.m., Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to the area of 23rd and N. Market Street in reference to a Shot Spotter Notification of gunfire in the area.

Arriving officer’s located evidence of a shooting scene in the unit block of E.23rd Street, however, no victim could be located. Minutes later a police officer on a separate investigation at the Wilmington Hospital Emergency Room notified police dispatchers that a shooting victim had arrived at the hospital via private vehicle.

The victim, a 36-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound to his right, shoulder area and is in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
