Update: Early Morning Shooting Sends One To Hospital

On May 24, 2017 at approximately 10:31 a.m., an on duty uniformed police officer notified 911 and assisting units of shots being fired in the immediate area of the 1200 block of Elm Street.

The officer responded into the block and located a male victim described as in his 20’s down in the block and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to one of his upper legs.

The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room.

The investigation into this shooting incident is in the early stages and ongoing at the time of this release. Updates will be provided as available. Anyone with information relative to this investigation is asked to call Detective Joseph Bucksner at  302-576-3629.

Wilmington – Wilmington Police are currently on scene in the 1200 blk of Elm Street investigating a shooting that occurred just after 10:00 a.m. this morning.

The patient has been transported to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
