Update: Woman Rescued After Overturning Her Kayak In Odessa

Odessa – Rescue crews from the Odessa Fire Company along Delaware State Police responded to the Appoquinimink River today for a report of a Kayaker in distress.

Arriving fire crews found a woman who had overturned her Kayak and was stuck in the mud, according to a member of the Odessa Fire Company (OFC). Reports from the scene indicate that the this was happening as the tide was coming in.

Crews were able to free the woman and bring her to shore for further evaluation.

The OFC member told First State Update that the woman was not seriously injured and did not require transport to the hospital.

Odessa – Rescue crews from the Odessa Fire Company along Delaware State Police are currently on scene near the Appoquinimink River assisting Kayaker(s) in distress.

At around 1:50 p.m. this afternoon Sunday May 28, 2017, State Police Troopers observed an unknown number of kayaker(s) that appeared to be stuck in the mud with the tide coming in.

Crews from the Odessa Fire Company were dispatched to the scene and are currently working to rescue the stranded kayaker(s).
