Wilmington Police Make Quick Arrest In Monday’s Shooting

Wilmington – After Continued investigation by Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, Keenan Anderson, 25, of Wilmington was developed as a suspect in the shooting investigation from 6th and N. West Street on May 22, 2017, according to police. Arrest warrants were ultimately approved for Anderson on May 23, 2017 for the charges of Assault in the 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

On May 23, 2017 at approximately 3:36 p.m., Detectives assigned to the Drug, Vice and Organized Crime Division located Keenan Anderson in the 500 block of W. 7th Street and took him into custody without incident. Anderson was found to be in possession of a .380 Caliber Hi-Point handgun loaded with (7) rounds of ammunition on his person, according to officials.

Anderson was transported to police headquarters and booked on the original charges stemming from the shooting investigation. In addition, he was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and VOP ( violation of probation)Anderson was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $230,000 cash bail.

On May 22, 2017 at approximately 10:38 a.m., Wilmington Police officer’s responded to a residence located in the 400 block of W. 7th Street in reference to a shooting investigation. Arriving officer’s located a 35-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot to his torso area, according to police.

Officials said the victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting is alleged to have occurred in the area of W. 6th and N. West Street, however no shooting scene could be located, no Shot Spotter notification was received and no additional calls of shots fired in the area were received, according to authorities.
