Bicycle Struck By Car In Newark, One Transported To Hospital

Newark – Just before 8:00 p.m. last evening, Tuesday June 6, 2017, Delaware State Police along with rescue crews from Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company responded to the intersection of Paper Mill Road and Polly Drummond Hill Road for a report of a cyclist being struck by a vehicle.

Additional units from the New Castle County (NCC) Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 4) were also dispatched to the accident scene. Arriving NCC Paramedics assisted the Aetna ambulance crew in transporting the patient to Christina Hospital with unspecified injuries. Trooper 4 hovered over the accident scene for a short period but was not utilized.

State Police were speaking to a man who had damage to the passenger side of his vehicle but it is unclear if this vehicle was involved in the accident.
