Dover – The Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation after skeletal human remains were located in a wooded area near Dover, according to Director of Public Information Sergeant Richard D. Bratz.
Bratz said the preliminary investigation has determined at approximately 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, human remains were discovered as a subject walked through the wooded area east of Leipsic Road near Marley Lane. The subject contacted troopers and notified them of the discovery. Detectives responded to the wooded area and confirmed that they were human skeletal remains.
The Delaware Division of Forensic Science was contacted and is currently assisting with the investigation. The identity is currently unknown. The investigation into the death of the subject is in its early stages as troopers continue to collect and analyze evidence at the scene.
The area where the body was found is in the same general area that the Firefly Music Festival is being held.
