County Police Arrest 60-Year-Old Man, Gun Drugs Seized

New Castle – New Castle County Police (NCCPD)have arrested 60-year-old Ernest Anderson for firearm and drug related offenses in the community of Simonds Gardens, according to NCCPD spokesman J.P. Piser

Piser said on Tuesday, May 30, County Police Safe Streets Detectives along with Probation and Parole Officers conducted a probation check in the unit block of Dallas Road. Officers contacted an occupant, Ernest Anderson, and checked the residence for the probationer, who was not home. During the check, officers located evidence that a firearm was in the residence and obtained a search warrant knowing both occupants are prohibited from possessing firearms, said Piser.

Upon a search, police located marijuana, cocaine, drug-packaging materials, over 70 rounds of ammunition and a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine, according to Piser.

Ernest Anderson was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a prior felony conviction, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited due to a prior felony conviction, possession of a firearm and a controlled substance at the same time, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned and released on $10,300 unsecured bail.
