Delaware City Fire Company Rescues Stranded Boaters In C & D Canal


Delaware City – At around 7:22 p.m. on Thursday June 1, 2017 the Delaware City Fire Company received a call for a watercraft in distress. Units responded to the C & D Canal with the Delaware City Fire Company Rescue Boat.

Reports from the scene indicate that crews were originally unable to locate the boat as the callers from the boat were unsure of their exact location. Crews eventually were able to located the boat, which had suffered mechanical problems.

The crew from the rescue boat took three people on-board and began towing the stranded vessel back to the Delaware City Canal via the Delaware River.

At about 8:30 p.m. the rescue crew along with the boaters arrived back in Delaware City. No injuries were evident.
